DogLeg is a golf scorekeeping app: it tracks events, rounds, scores, and the games your group plays. This policy covers both the DogLeg app and this website (dogleggolfapp.com, including the support and feedback form). The short version: we collect what we need to keep score for your group and run the service, we show your golf activity to the people in your events, and we never sell it or use it for advertising.

Information the app collects

• Account information — your email address, name, and golf handicap index, provided when you sign up (with a one-tap email link, Google, or Apple sign-in) or edit your profile. You may also add a phone number, a GHIN number, and which tees you’re rated for — all optional, and the last of these is what lets the app score a mixed group fairly.
• Golf activity — the events and rounds you create or join, hole-by-hole scores, game settings, results, and game winnings and losses tracked within your group.
• Contacts you add — names, email addresses, and handicaps of players you enter when building a roster or saving your regular playing partners. Only enter information about people with their permission.
• Scorecard photos — if you use the scorecard-scanning feature, the photos you take or choose are uploaded and read automatically to fill in course details. The camera is used only when you start a scan, and the image is never stored — it is read and discarded.
• Location, only while you’re using it — if you allow it, your location powers the on-course yardage view and finding courses near you. It is used to answer that request and not stored. There is no background tracking, and declining simply turns those two features off.
• Push notification tokens — if you turn on notifications, we store the token your phone’s operating system issues so a notification can reach the right device.
• Purchases — if you buy a pass, we record which one and whether it is active. Payment itself is handled by the App Store or Google Play; we never see or store card or bank details.

Information this website collects

If you send us feedback or a support request, we collect your email address, your name and device if you choose to give them, and the message you write — used only to answer you and to fix or build what you asked about. Please don’t include anything sensitive in the message itself.

If you sign up for the 3+ Club Challenge event list, we collect your name, email address, and the ways you’re interested in taking part, so we can send you event news as the day takes shape.

Our “Where to stay” page links to booking sites such as Vrbo, Booking.com and Expedia. Some are affiliate links through our partner Travelpayouts: if you book, DogLeg may earn a commission at no cost to you. That page loads a Travelpayouts script, which may set cookies to credit the booking. The DogLeg app itself does not contain affiliate links or ad tracking.

How we use it

Your information is used to run DogLeg: keeping score, showing leaderboards and results to your group, sending event invitations and product updates you ask us to send, and signing you in. We do not show ads, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone. DogLeg tracks friendly wagers and calculates who owes what; it does not process payments or move any money.

Who can see your information

• Players in your events can see your name, handicap, scores, and results for those events — that’s the point of the app.
• Service providers that run DogLeg on our behalf: Supabase (database, sign-in, and hosting), Resend (sends event invitations, support replies, and product emails), and Anthropic (reads scanned scorecard photos to extract course information). Each receives only what it needs for that job.
• No one else, unless the law requires it.

Device permissions

The mobile app asks for camera access only when you scan a scorecard, and uses the system photo picker if you choose an existing photo. It asks for location only when you open the on-course yardage view or search for nearby courses, and notifications only if you want them. Each is optional and can be turned off in your phone’s settings. There is no background location tracking, no microphone use, and the app never reads your phone’s contact list — the players you save as regulars are the ones you type in yourself.

Security and retention

Data is encrypted in transit, and database access rules limit each account to the events it belongs to. We keep your data so your group history stays available. Every product email we send also includes an unsubscribe link.

You can delete your account and personal data at any time, without asking us — in the app under Me → Account → Delete Account, or from our account deletion page, which works whether or not you still have the app installed. Deleting removes your sign-in, your profile, your saved regulars, your notification settings, and any round or trip only you were in. It also clears your email address, phone number and GHIN number from every event you played in, including other people’s.

Rounds you played with other people keep your scores, under the name you played as, with those contact details removed — pulling them out would break your group’s leaderboards and settled bets. A trip or tradition you organised is handed to another player rather than deleted out from under them. Deleted data can persist in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before ageing out, and those backups are never used to restore an individual account.

Children

DogLeg is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes meaningfully, we’ll update this page and its effective date. To delete your account, use the account deletion page — you don’t need to ask us. Anything else: support@dogleggolfapp.com.
