Delete your account
DogLeg, published by Paul Goodling
You can delete your DogLeg account and your personal data at any time. You do not need the app installed to do it, and you don’t have to ask anyone’s permission. This page explains exactly what goes, what stays, and why.
How to request deletion
Either of these works. Both do the same thing.
- On this page. Use the button below, sign in to prove the account is yours, and confirm. It happens immediately — nothing is queued and nobody reviews it.
- In the app. Open Me → Account → Delete Account and confirm. Same result.
- By email, if you can’t sign in. If you’ve lost access to the email address or the Google/Apple sign-in the account was made with, write to support@dogleggolfapp.com from any address you can reach. We’ll verify it’s your account another way before deleting anything.
What gets deleted
- Your sign-in — you will not be able to log in again
- Your profile: name, email address, phone number, handicap index, GHIN number
- Your saved regulars, and your notification and device settings
- Your contact details wherever they appear on a golf event, including events run by other people
- Any round, trip or event that only you were in — those are yours alone, so they go with you
What stays, and why
If you played rounds with other people, those rounds belong to that group as much as to you. Your scores stay on those scorecards, under the name you played as — with your contact details stripped out.
The reason is simple: if we pulled your scores out, your group’s trip results would break. The leaderboard would be wrong, the skins wouldn’t add up, and a settled bet from three years ago would stop balancing. So the golf stays and the account behind it goes.
If you organised a trip that other people joined, the trip is handed over to one of those players rather than deleted out from under them. The same goes for an annual tradition and its record book — it passes to another member, so nobody else loses their history because you left.
| What | Happens | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in and profile | Deleted | It’s yours and nobody else needs it |
| Email, phone, GHIN | Deleted everywhere | No scorecard needs them to make sense |
| Solo rounds and trips | Deleted | Nobody else was in them |
| Scores in shared rounds | Kept, under your playing name | Removing them breaks your group’s results and settled bets |
| Trips you organised | Handed to another player | So the group doesn’t lose the trip when you go |
How long it takes
Deletion happens immediately when you confirm — it is not a request that sits in a queue. If you write to us by email instead, we complete it within 30 days of verifying the account is yours, and usually much sooner.
Encrypted database backups are kept on a rolling schedule for disaster recovery, so a copy of deleted data can persist in those backups for up to 30 days after deletion. Backups are never used to restore an individual account, and the data ages out of them automatically.
Subscriptions
Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. Cancel that in the App Store or Google Play, under your own store account — we can’t do it for you, and neither store lets us.
